Here are some examples of unfamiliar Filipino words:

1) Anluwage
English: Carpenter
Definition: A worker who builds or repairs wooden structures or their structural parts.
Use in a sentence: Ang tatay ni Michael ay isang anluwage.

2) Awanggan
English: Infinity
Definition: Unlimited extent of time, space, or quantity.
Use in a sentence: Hindi magbabago at awanggan ang pagmamahal ko sa’yo

3) Duyog
In English: Eclipse
Definition: The total or partial obscuring of one celestial body by another.
Use in a sentence: Nakita mo ba ang nangyaring duyog nung isang araw?

4) Hatinig
In English: Telephone
Definition: An instrument for reproducing sounds at a distance.
Use in a sentence: Sagutin mo ang hatinig, may tumatawag!


5) Salipapaw
In English: Airplane
Definition: A powered heavier-than-air aircraft with fixed wings from which it derives most of its lift.
Use in a sentence: Nakasakay ka na ba sa salipapaw?

6) Pang-ulong hatinig
In English: Headset
Definition: An attachment for holding an earphone and transmitter at one’s head.
Use in a sentence: Pwede kang makinig ng musika gamit ang pang-ulong hatinig para di maka-istorbo sa iyong mga katabi.

7) Kagaw
In English: Germs
Definition: A small mass of living substance capable of developing into an organism or one of its parts.
Use in a sentence: Wag mong isubo ang nalaglag na pagkain, marami ng kagaw iyan!

8) Kartamuneta 
In English: Wallet
Definition: A folding pocketbook with compartments for personal papers and usually unfolded paper money.
Use in a sentence: Nakalimutan ni Angelo ang kanyang kartamuneta sa sinakyan niyang taxi. 

9) Di Mahapayang-Gatang
In English: Grumpy Woman
Definition: A moodily cross woman.
Use in a sentence: Mahirap magkagusto sa isang di mahapayang-gatang.

10) Durungawan 
In English: Window
Definition: An opening especially in the wall of a building for admission of light and air that is usually closed by casements or sashes containing transparent material (such as glass) and capable of being opened and shut.
Use in a sentence: Pakisarang mabuti ang ating durungawan, baka may mamboso.
